Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal Links, in the purest form, is where web site A publishes a link to web site B, and web site B publishes a link back to web site A, hence the term “reciprocal”. In practice, however, most links on a web site are not reciprocal. Typically, one site will link to another because it is a good source of information for their visitors. In either case, the web site that is being linked will stand to benefit from added traffic and in search engine placement.
Added web traffic from a link on another web site is the obvious benefit, but the cumulative side effect of better search engine placement offers the greatest value. The reason for this is that most search engines use mathematical algorithms to determine which web pages will be displayed in the top results. These algorithms typically give a more of credit to web sites with a larger number of other web sites linking in to them. The rational is, if lots of sites link in to one site, then that site must be of significant importance.
The management of a Reciprocal Link program involves the review and selection of the best sites to request links, the identification of a contact person, the appropriate wording in a link request and a timely follow up. The entire process can be outsourced or managed internally with some light training. If you would like to learn more about gaining web traffic (direct or search engine) from reciprocal links,
